RNA Innovation Center, Johns Hopkins University

Saghana Muraleetharan is the Laboratory Manager of the Johns Hopkins RNA Innovation Center where she supports efforts in mRNA production and assay development. Saghana joined the Center following a five-year role at Spark Therapeutics (a Roche subsidiary) as a senior research associate. As part of the preclinical research team on AAV gene therapy, she supported the preclinical strategy, development, and characterization of multiple targets across several indications. Saghana also played a pivotal role on Spark’s preclinical IdeS program, a biologic to reduce anti-AAV neutralizing antibodies in patients with pre-existing antibodies across serotypes. Her background in molecular biology techniques, combined with a strong focus on innovation and collaboration, helps drive the Center’s mission to translate RNA technologies into impactful biomedical solutions.

Saghana earned her Bachelor of Sciences from Virginia Tech and her MSc from the University of Maryland.
